Shell Mill Hill

This is a prominent Shell PFS site located at a busy Apex corner roundabout with an adjacent underground pedestrian bypass alongside the site. The client brief included redeveloping the existing PFS site to the current highest standards and environmental parameters. In addition to this the site was to be expanded onto the existing additional land leased to a garage and convert into an EV hub with 6 EV chargers and a seating area. MBH were the appointed lead designers and design coordinators for this redevelopment.

With the mobility in and around London changing extensively in the recent years, the aim of the redevelopment was to upgrade the current PFS facility with a new customer friendly layout and to the latest needs of the area around in terms of both petroleum and EVC demands.

Construction next to a busy roundabout and an underground bypass is always a challenging prospect. And this was carefully done within the design layout and by the onsite team. MBH navigated the design layout across this linear site and coordinated information from various specialist consultants in terms of positioning of main site assets as well as lighting and acoustic measures.

The site, opened to the public in 2022, also boasts an EV hub with a sheltered external seating area facility for the EV customers. The bigger shop offers extensive convenience products for the visiting customers and the locals, whereas the increased car parking facility within the new layout is aimed to reduce congestion on the forecourt.
