A Senior Architectural Technologist and Project Runner is an employee who designs, manages, and runs projects from conception to post-delivery without supervision from a Director and will be expected to deal with a wide range of technical problems having responsibility for any or all of the listed Main Duties below.
Main Duties:
- Overall responsibility for project design and delivery through all RIBA work stages.
- Carry out feasibility & scoping visits and feedback findings to the Client.
- Designing to comply with legislative requirements for Building Regs (England), Building Regs (Scotland), CDM, Health and Safety and Planning.
- Contract Administration (preferably JCT forms of contracts).
- Prepare data and reports to timescales in a format required by clients.
- Production of design and construction information and documents, specifications, RFIs, finishes schedules, programme of works, CDM information packs, etc. through all RIBA work stages.
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 Regulations.
- Managing several projects for several clients simultaneously.
- Work collaboratively with other internal service teams to provide an integrated approach to client delivery (Engineering & Cost Management teams).
- Manage project consultant teams, including Cost Managers, Design Teams, Structural Engineers, Geotech consultants etc.
- Review designs and make comments to pass back to the Design Team.
- Attend/chair client, project and site meetings throughout the RIBA work stages, including taking and issuing meeting minutes to agreed distribution lists
- Act as the main point of contact for all stakeholders (Client, Contractor, Design Team, etc.)
- Managing client relationships and service delivery on a project basis.
- Delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Assist Cost Management team with Tenders, Certificates of Payment & Final Accounts etc.
- Investigating and reporting on building problems of a technical nature, including analysis and diagnosis; and promulgating appropriate conclusions.
- Other duties within the general scope of the post and appropriate to the position may be required from time to time; changes of duties will be discussed with the individual.
- Implementing the Quality Management System in respect of project work under their control and for aspects of general management for which they will be responsible.
- Suggesting CPD events for the office and for Personal Professional Development.
This role will involve:
- Site visits
- Overnight stays
- Travelling outside the UK
- Driving long distance within the UK
The successful candidate will have:
- BSc (Hons) minimum in either Architectural Technology / Architecture
- Member of either CIAT / RIBA/ RICS / APM / CIOB
- 8 years (minimum) experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Project.
- Experience with Petrol Filling Station/Forecourt projects desirable.
- Commercially aware, works well as part of a team and demonstrates people management skills to support and mentor where required.
- Great interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively (both internally and with clients).
- Good organisational skills.
- Self-motivated as well as a good team player.
- Ability to make informed decisions and work unsupervised.
- Full UK driving licence.

As an Architectural Technologist, you will, under the direction of a Director, Architect, or Senior Architectural Technologist give technical assistance on all matters concerning the design of buildings and running of projects
Main Duties:
The duties of an Architectural Technologist will vary according to the type, and stage of projects. The employee will be expected to deal with a wide range of technical problems having responsibility for any or all of the following:
- Providing technical support.
- Undertaking surveys, site visits, project meetings and the design (including detailed design), production information, specification and supervision of schemes of a largely technical nature, including works of alteration, extension, fit-out and refurbishment.
- Providing, direct to a Director, the technical management of larger or more complex schemes;
- Specialising in matters relevant to design i.e the technical aspects of building legislation, fire prevention, health and safety; as well as in the technical aspects of particular building types; or in technically complex building elements or systems.
- Investigating and reporting on building problems of a technical nature, including analysis and diagnosis; and promulgating appropriate conclusions.
- Other duties within the general scope of the post and appropriate to the position may be required from time to time; changes of duties will be discussed with the individual.
- The level of responsibility exercised will be appropriate to the experience and qualifications held by the individual and will be reflected both in the degree of complexity of the work and the amount of supervision necessary.
- Implementing the Quality Management System in respect of project work under their control and for aspects of general management for which they may be responsible in part or whole.
- Arranging CPD events for the office and for Personal Professional Development
This role will involve:
- Site visits
- Overnight stays
- Travelling outside the UK
- Driving long distance within the UK
The successful candidate will have:
- BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology
- Associate member of CIAT
- 3 years (minimum) experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Proficient in Sketchup and/or Photoshop
- Knowledge of Revit
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
Training & Continual Professional Development:
- On the job training will be provided, including EV Charging, CDM as well as other PFS related qualifications will be given to the successful candidate.
- Monthly CPD seminars
To be successful in this role, you will need to be an excellent communicator who can assist our Project Leaders and show an eagerness and willingness to learn.
You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to learn whilst demonstrating a high level of diligence and organisational skills.
